The ELZ_1 Play retains the beloved qualities of its predecessor, including the compact design and versatile sound engine, but adds some noteworthy enhancements. These include expanded connectivity options, a new user interface with a larger, brighter screen, and additional sound engines that bring even more sonic possibilities to your fingertips. The Verdict: Get it while its hot
When I owned the original ELZ_1, it quickly became a perfect companion to my SP-404SX. The variety of synth engines provided a rich palette of sounds that I loved to sample and resample, making it an essential tool in my portable music setup. The ELZ_1's compact design and versatile sound engine meant I could take it on trips and still keep creating, no matter where I was. The screen, while small, offered just enough information to program sounds effectively. Now, with the ELZ_1 Play, I'm particularly excited about the addition of a looper with overdubbing—a feature that takes this device to the next level. Great devices with loopers always have a special place in my heart, much like the SP-555 and, to some extent, the MPC Live (kind of).
Key Features:
17 synth engines + 28 effects
New 4-track looper for easy one-touch record/playback/overdub.
Velocity-sensitive keyboard
Built-in Stereo speakers
USB Audio & MIDI
The ELZ_1 Play is Available for pre-oders, directly from Sonicware for $599 USD. Shipping starts late September.
